Homophobia

Just got back from my holiday...Which I've just realized I completely forgot to tell you about. Sorry. I hate to come back after a lovely visit to my grans with a rant, but this has to be said.

Ok. Homophobia. The fear of homosexuals, people who are attracted to people of the same sex. In most peoples books, a completely irrational and horrible thing to be. The thing that triggered this post: http://percyjacksonisstupid.blogspot.com/

I'm not going to talk the fact that hating on a fictional character is a little...

Why use gay as an insult? But it's not just that. Scroll down the page, you will see the comments. Firstly, a nice person (Parinerdfighter) pulled the creator of this blog up on their invalid insult. I did the same. And then the blog owner, calling themselves '50', wrote these comments.

'AislingChild,

You think [being] gay isn't a bad thing?'

'The bible says you will go to hell if you are a gay. Maybe u r an atheist. I don't know. But atheists go to hell as well.'

What the hell?! I don't even need to point out how wrong this is. At least, I hope I don't. And another thing: They act as though all Christians are narrow minded homophobics. Um...not true. Although I myself am an atheist, I have many Christian friends who certainly do not think in this narrow-minded fashion.

Looking forward to your say in this.

Music vs Fashion

Ah, the never ending debate, the one you find on all internet goth forums. Which is more important to the Gothic Subculture: The music or the fashion?

The Music

Many believe the music is more important to our subculture. After all, it was music that formed it! How could fashion be more important than music in a music based subculture? Anyone can throw on a black dress and put some dark-themed makeup on, but listening to, and appreciating, Gothic music is something that mainly (although not always) Goths enjoy. It would be bizarre to suggest that fashion is more important than music in the goth subculture.

 The Fashion

However, just as many argue that the fashion is much more important. Anybody can compile a playlist of a few of The Cure's songs, but putting the work into beautiful clothing takes true devotion to your subculture.

(Sorry for the rather bad arguments for both sides, I'm very tired today :) )

So What do I Think?

I believe that the music is more important than the fashion. After all, although the mainstream dabbles in (a very toned down version of) gothic fashion, I believe I am correct in the assumption that no-one has ever heard Emilie Autumn's 'I Know Where You Sleep' playing on Capital Radio.

But what do you think?

Room Decoration: 1

Ah, how to create your spooky hole of darkness. The challenge that plagues babybats (and elder goths, and all in-between!) everywhere. Now that it's nearing Halloween we can buy lots of things we'd normally have to hunt down, so now it's the perfect time to start decorating! This series of posts will probably be spread out, and certainly not complete, but as I'm starting to decorate my room, I thought I'd make posts of my progress.

Warning: Pic Heavy

I printed off pictures from the internet and stuck them up into my room. Very basic, but a start :)

Random Extra Things

Vita (My sister) on her way to a pirate themed party:
I wish she dressed like this every day!

Ikea is great for buying random pictures!

And my random voodoo doll lips :) Not entirely sure how I did this, I was trying on black lipstick (it doesn't suit me) and washed it off a little to gently.

My Opinions

This is a post inspierd by this post (http://ourwalrusroom.blogspot.com/2011/09/my-opinions.html ) I found whilst wondering through old posts on The Walrus Room. These are just my opinions, I'm not trying to force them on anyone, if anyone has a massive disagreement to anything I say and they keep there argument mature I will be happy to consider there opinions and possibly change my own.

  • Humans look at people and judge. People get to know people despite these differences.
  • I don't see the point of vegetarianism, some animals eat other animals, it's not like it's exclusive to humans. However, if you don't want to eat meat, that's your choice.
  • That said, I think that we should eat more of the animals than we do. Why is it ok to eat leg, but not liver? (That said, I really don't like the taste of liver. But at least I tried it :) )
  • The Rights of The Child are incomplete, because they do not mention a child's right to not be discriminated against for liking someone of the same sex/both sexes.
  • Marriage should be available to everyone
  • You should practice what you preach
  • The teacher isn't always right
  • School uniform is pointless, everyone has the right to their own individuality.
  • Everyone has the right to do as they wish, as long as they are not hurting themselves or others
  • People who rape should serve life sentences.
  • A subculture is something to enjoy being part of, not a set of rules to run your life by
  • You shouldn't be constantly rude to people, then complain that no-one likes you
  • Virginity is overrated. If you love him/her, and you both want to do it, do it.
  • Dress as you want, not as others want you to.
  • If you know you look good, you'll look good.
As I said before, I'd be happy to hear any differing opinions and the reasoning behind them, as long as you keep your argument mature :)

P.S My new favorite Dr. Who quote: There's something that doesn't quite make sense, something that doesn't add up...lets go and poke it with a stick.

Doodiling all over my face....

(I found my camera again, yay!)

Yes, this is what happens when I am incredibly bored. No, I don't know why I'm posting this.

Please note: I did not (REPEAT, DID NOT) go out of the house with these makeup styles on, they where just a bit of babybat fun.

My attempt at a spider

This was an epic fail :P

Sorry for the sidewaysness of some pictures

Really Awesome Folk Song Lyrics

Yup, I know this is kinda like one of the Goth Challanges, but I felt like doing this. Most people will find this boring but I want to do this post - If you don't like it, don't read it :)

Oh My Darling Clementine

In a cavern, in a canyon,
Excavating for a mine
Lived a ,miner, forty-niner
And his daughter Clementine

Oh my darling, oh my darling
Oh my darling Clementine
Thou art lost and gone forever
Dreadful sorry Clementine

Fair she was, and like a fairy,
And her shoes where number nine
Herring boxes without topses
Sandles were for Clementine

Oh my darling, oh my darling...

Drove she ducklings to the water
Every morning just at nine
Stubbed her toe against a splinter
Fell into the foaming brine

Oh my darling, oh my darling...

Ruby lips above the water
Robed in garments soaked with brine
But alas I was no swimmer
So I lost my Clementine

Oh my darling, oh my darling...

In a graveyard, near the canyon
Where the myrtle doth entwine
Grow roses and other posies
Fertilized by Clementine

Oh my darling, oh my darling...

Then the miner, forty-niner
Soon began to peak and pine
Thought he oughter join his daughter
Now he's with his Clementine

Oh my darling, oh my darling...

In my dreams she still doth haunt me
Robed in garments soaked with brine
Tho in life I would embrace her
Now she's dead I draw the line

Oh my darling, oh my darling...

How I missed her, how I missed her
How I missed my Clementine
Till I kissed her little sister
And forgot my Clementine

Oh my darling, oh my darling...

All ye boy scouts, heed a warning
From this tragic tale of mine
Artificial respiration
Would have saved my Clementine

Oh my darling, oh my darling...

Oh my darling Clementine is an old American folk song

DIY: Safety pins are awesome.

I love safety pins. I really do. They're just so easy to use! To make ANY outfit seem more unique, I find just attaching a load of safety pins is great. (Don't worry, I do have some pattern behind my random attaching). Warning: This post contains a lot, because I'm going away to Cornwall for a while (not that long) so I'm just doing a load of posts in one

Safety-Pinned Fingerless Gloves

Difficulty Rating: Easy

You Will Need:

Something to use for the gloves. Socks, legwarmers, armwarmers, old top sleeves, whatever. I've used legwarmers

Obviously, safety pins. As many as you want

Scissors

Step 1) Cut a thumb hole in each of the potential gloves

Step 2) Attach safety pins however you wish to. Here is some of what I did.

Safety pins around the thumb hole. This also stops fraying.

I attached pins messily around the edge of it

Threaded Eyebrows!

I got my eyebrows threaded today :). I love them but god it hurts...

More Safety Pins!

This time on my belt

Not going to do a tutorial for this because it's super easy. You literally just attach safety pins in a line

Rant that has hardly anything to do with Goth but needs to be said.

Some people are sick. Truly sick. I'm talking about this http://camphalf-blood.qhub.com/ .

Teasing someone because they're a lesbian? Disgusting.

Ganging up on someone because they like tea parties and had the idea of hosting one, which could easily be turned down in a POLITE manner? Yes, being rude makes you such a great person

Insulting someone because they're 'not even a babybat in terms of gothyness' when you don't even know what Goth is, then rating down other peoples answers? Who's the bigger person?

JUST BECAUSE YOU ONLY KNOW SOMEONE ONLINE DOESN'T MEAN YOU CAN INSULT THEM FOR THE WAY THEY CHOOSE TO LIVE THEIR LIFE!!!!

It isn't just here. Everyday there are thousands of narrow minded bigots posting anti-gay comments, anti-goth comments, anti-anything that isn't what they believe is perfect! These people are saying things like 'all lesbians should be shot', and far from putting them right, people are agreeing! I know you've probably heard all this before, but I was to angry to do a proper post today, so this is what you got. And a final message for those who internet-hate.

Very quick post

This is basically just going to be really quick but I'll do another post today that's better...I promise!

Thank you Bixie for recommending The Graveyard Tea Society and some great tips for tea parties as well :)

Wow...19 followers and over 1000 page views (at least according to the random box thing on the side)? Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!

Random things and questions

Does anyone know how to do eye makeup like this?

As I recently found out courtesy of Little Miss Gloom and Doom Emilie Autumn is 31! Yes, I know many would have already known this but 31!!!

Always by The Birthday Massacre is one of the best songs ever.

How much do you think I could rip my tights before school complained?

My school uniform code says any 'black or grey' tights. Do you think that counts fishnets?

I need to do some more DIY posts.

A Very Potter Musical is awesome! Go and watch it on youtube now!

Percy Jackson. I trust all of my readers have heard of it, if not read it.My advice to those who haven't at least read The Lightning Thief: READ IT! Even if you think you're 'to old for it' (Note: I don't believe in people being to old for anything, exculding fluffy bright pink dresses meant for two year olds). Just. Read. It.

I'm running out of random comments.

Youtube is awesome.

Survey :P

Ok, I saw this on Bloggery of a Gothcat and I assumed we're meant to do it as well if you read it...not really sure but I'll do it anyway :P

1. Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, find line 4 and write the sentence here: 'I told you, sir, the where red hot with drinking; So full of valour that they smote the air for breathing in their faces; beat the ground for kissing of he feet; yet always bending towards their project.' (The Works of Shakespeare)

2. Stretch your left arm out as far as you can. What’s there? The sheet telling me about my E.C.S project (which I have yet to do)

3. What is the last thing you watched on TV? Umm...really can't remember. I think it was Friends

4. Without looking, guess what time it is: 4:15pm

5. Now look at the clock. What is the actual time? 4:20pm

6. With the exception of the computer, what can you hear? Hmm...my mum cutting chicken up for dinner

7. When did you last step outside? What were you doing? Went to the fair in my nearby park

8. Before you started this survey, what did you look at? Little Miss Gloom and Dooms Blog (I spend most of my computer time reading blogs)

9. What are you wearing? Long sleeved black top, long flowing silk skirt

10. Did you dream last night? Probably, but I can't remember what it's about

11. When did you last laugh? Talking to my cousin earlier today

12. What is on the walls of the room you are in? Nothing apart from white walls :P

13. Seen anything weird lately? Sadly, nope :(

14. What is the last film you saw? Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1. I've finally gotten intereseted in the series (started reading them three days ago, just fineshed goblet of fire) so I got the whole film series out from blockbusters
15. If you became a
multi-millionaire overnight, what would you buy? Really expensive outfits, a great computer, an Ipad, a great camera and a full great fencing kit

16. Tell me something about you that I don’t know. Hmm...I role play a LOT

17. If you could change one thing about the world, what would you change? Hmm...if I could, I'd make no-body judge on looks

18. Do you like to dance?
Yes! But only on my own...

19. What do you think of the president? If you mean Obalma (can't spell his name :P) he seems good. But talking about my PM...I HATE HIM HE MUST BE SACKED NOW HE'S AN IDIOT!!! Ahem...as you have seen, I have strong feelings towards David Cameron

20. Imagine your first child is a girl, what do you call her? Ok...I'll assume this is much later, when I want a child. Probably Aisling, because it's a beautiful name (and no, Aisling is not my real name, I wouldn't name my child after me)

21. Imagine your first child is a boy, what do you call him? Either Isaac or Conner or Sal. Love all those names <3

22. Would you ever consider living abroad? I plan to move to Denmark as soon as possible

23. What do you want to say to God when you reach the pearly gates? I'd tell him to go and fetch Zues and demand to go to Hades (I don't believe in any god but I think that if any existed the Greek ones would be the coolest)

Makeup of the Day and Stuff

Advance Warning: I won't be able to do a post tomorrow because I'm going camping

I'm kinda tired today so I'll do mainly pictures and I might just obey the stereotype and put one of my poems at the end :D

My right eye. I used my mums khaki eyeliner (I love that stuff ^^) to draw a faint heart (Emilie Autumn inspired, but unfortunally I didn't have anything to color it red :() then filled it in with my mums concealer because she's got darker skin than me (she takes after my grandad, who's Burmese)
My left eye :D I used brown liquid eyeliner to do the swirl, and I think it came out quite well :D It draws attention to my eyes, and it looks pretty :D It took a few mistakes (I recomend practising makeup in the bathroom with a flannel soaking in hot water in the sink so you can oh-so- quickly wash of any disasters) but eventually I mannaged to get a nice swirl without looking like a two year old took their crayons to me

Apologies, but most of my makeup pictures are sideways :S Why do I always forget to do them landscape? *facepalm* Anyways, this is some makeup I tried doing last night :D I've started to experiment and whilst I still can't do a lot of types of makeup I'm getting better :D And hardly any negative comments from parents yet :D

I'm not wearing any other makeup in the pictures other than what I've talked about but the purple headband is my mums, again. She got it from topshop but she can't wear it, it gives her a headache. Also, in the last one you can see the neckline of my dress, witch is good because the lace didn't show up in this picture.

As promised, my lovely new dress. It's not a great picture but you can sort of get the color :D I normally wear it with this beautiful black ribbon to hide the string

And now, as promised, my poem :D It kinda scared me that I'd written it to be honest, it sounds like I'm mentally deranged

The Voice Behind the Wall

I saw the man

Standing over the bodies

He saw me

I ran

To a wall

It was there I found him

My voice behind the wall

He comforted me

My voice behind the wall

He was my new best friend

My voice behind the wall

Each day I walked

Along the wall

To try and find a place where I could see

My voice behind the wall

I found it

The end of the wall

And I saw him

My voice behind the wall

He saw me

It was him

The man I was running from

Was my voice behind the wall
