Homophobia

Just got back from my holiday...Which I've just realized I completely forgot to tell you about. Sorry. I hate to come back after a lovely visit to my grans with a rant, but this has to be said.

Ok. Homophobia. The fear of homosexuals, people who are attracted to people of the same sex. In most peoples books, a completely irrational and horrible thing to be. The thing that triggered this post: http://percyjacksonisstupid.blogspot.com/

I'm not going to talk the fact that hating on a fictional character is a little...

Why use gay as an insult? But it's not just that. Scroll down the page, you will see the comments. Firstly, a nice person (Parinerdfighter) pulled the creator of this blog up on their invalid insult. I did the same. And then the blog owner, calling themselves '50', wrote these comments.

'AislingChild,

You think [being] gay isn't a bad thing?'

'The bible says you will go to hell if you are a gay. Maybe u r an atheist. I don't know. But atheists go to hell as well.'

What the hell?! I don't even need to point out how wrong this is. At least, I hope I don't. And another thing: They act as though all Christians are narrow minded homophobics. Um...not true. Although I myself am an atheist, I have many Christian friends who certainly do not think in this narrow-minded fashion.

Looking forward to your say in this.

Sometimes you just gotta rant...

Sometimes I hate my school so much. It's not that it's a bad school or anything, it's just that some people in it are SUCH IDIOTS!

(Note: I realize what I moan about in here happens to every Goth, and it's really just something you've got to get used to, but I'm a babybat, I'm allowed to moan sometimes!)

I have friends in school. They're all great people. But apart from one person, none of them are in ANY of my classes, and the one that is is never put anywhere near me in the classes we're together in (our school has seating plans, worst luck). The lessons that's the worst is defiantly Ethics and Culture. Not only do I find the subject matter extremely boring at the moment, but almost the entire class is filled with idiots. The boy I sit next to refuses to let me touch anything on 'his side of the table' because I'm 'dirty'. I'd just ignore him usually, but we're forced to do loads of partner work. And I really cannot work with him. I'll try, but he'll not do anything, and just complain about me loudly to his friends (who also hate me, and sit very near to me) to make them laugh. However, they're just stupid. That's not what bothers me. It's the fact that I'm sitting right at the front of the class, these boys are complaining loudly enough for the whole class to hear, and the teacher doesn't do a thing. Nor, for that matter, do any of the pupils speak up in my defense, or even shoot me the occasional sympathetic glance.

Yes, my teacher dislikes me. No, I do not blame her for that, she can tell I'm bored in her classes, so she has every right to be annoyed at me. But to ignore such blatant bullying (and yes, it is bullying - it happens every lesson, and she knows it), going on right underneath her nose, is unacceptable!

Sorry for this rant, but I've only had one lesson today that wasn't with the a fore mentioned idiots (yes, I have more than one class with them, mores the pity), so I think it may be justified

Sibling Love, Sibling Hate

All who have siblings are familiar with the torment they bring (they can also be really nice but anyways...my angsty teen self is on a role here). This (rantish) post is mainly about how they can react to your movement to the dark side. (Edit: Reading back, I spot quite a few 'I's in the first paragraph, so sorry about that :P)

I have two siblings, an older sister (14) and a younger brother (11). My brother is wonderfully unsexist, not too obsessed with popularity and tries not to judge on what someone looks like. My sister isn't as bad as most other girls in her year, but she's a bit of a fashionita (that's not even a proper word and I still think I spelt it wrong...does that even make sense?, a bit of a slut shamer, and dislikes people who are 'different in a bad way'. What do they have in common? They both call me 'emo' a lot, and tell me to 'please stop dressing so freakily, because it's embarrassing them'. God, siblings are ANNOYING!!!

This applies to all people, not just family. We are Goths (not emos, Goths) for a reason. We are't going to stop dressing in a way that makes us feel more confident because you tell us to. We aren't going to trade our creepy music for your pop. We aren't going to stop identifying with a (rather wonderful, in my opinion) subculture because 'it's embarrassing you'. Tough luck.

/end rant

Siblings can also be really great of course, as can friends :D

Rant that has hardly anything to do with Goth but needs to be said.

Some people are sick. Truly sick. I'm talking about this http://camphalf-blood.qhub.com/ .

Teasing someone because they're a lesbian? Disgusting.

Ganging up on someone because they like tea parties and had the idea of hosting one, which could easily be turned down in a POLITE manner? Yes, being rude makes you such a great person

Insulting someone because they're 'not even a babybat in terms of gothyness' when you don't even know what Goth is, then rating down other peoples answers? Who's the bigger person?

JUST BECAUSE YOU ONLY KNOW SOMEONE ONLINE DOESN'T MEAN YOU CAN INSULT THEM FOR THE WAY THEY CHOOSE TO LIVE THEIR LIFE!!!!

It isn't just here. Everyday there are thousands of narrow minded bigots posting anti-gay comments, anti-goth comments, anti-anything that isn't what they believe is perfect! These people are saying things like 'all lesbians should be shot', and far from putting them right, people are agreeing! I know you've probably heard all this before, but I was to angry to do a proper post today, so this is what you got. And a final message for those who internet-hate.
