Daily Goth Challenge: Days 9/10/11/12

Day 9 – What genre of music do you dislike?

Hard...I'd say that they're's no particular genre in itself, although most of what I dislike is mainstream music.
Basically, lyrics me a lot to me. If a song has good lyrics I can listen to it over and over, but if the lyrics are about someone 'shagging his bitches' I cannot listen. I just can't.
I think this is part of the reason goth appealles to me. The songs are about things, not just a good tune and someone losing his 'baby'.

The exception to this is Avril Lavinge, whom I listen to despite the lyrics to songs like Girlfriend.

Also, I don't really get 'Screamo', heavy metal and some types of rock (I don't know if the Guns 'n Roses are really rock, but I like them :) ). I assume that there is some type of song in there somewhere but all I hear are drums, guitars and screaming.

Day 10 – What do you hate and love about the subculture?

I really dislike the snarking at baby bats. Although I have never personally come across this, I've heard about it a lot and I have one thing I want to say to any Elder Goths who have a tendency to do this: We're trying our best here!

I love how open minded it is, and how, really, almost anything goes :) I love the music, and the fact that there are so many styles to choose from, as well as to mix and match. Also, you buy clothes to last you as long as you need to wear them, not until that particular fashion goes away.

Day 11 – Is Goth a lifestyle for you?

It's really to soon for me to say, but in regards to the home I felt as I read about it, I'll say yes.

I've always thought of myself as a stranger, my black humor and bookishness practically alone in this world. The (mild) bulling I endured from nursery upwards helped encourage this feeling. However, whilst reading various definitions of Goth on the internet, I realised I wasn't alone, there where hundreds of like-minded people all around the globe! Considering I have been behaving 'gothily' (awful way of putting it but anyways...) since my younger years, I say Goth is a lifestyle to me.

Day 12 – What's your gothic inspiration?

I have many, but defiantly Jillian Venters

I mean, just look at the woman! Sophisticated, gorgeous, and Goth! I think she is what helped win my mum round to me being a Goth, because she, although Goth, is married, has a job and is happy!

In terms of adult Goth I aspire to be like when I reach their age, I must mention Victorian Kitty (from Sophistique Noir - http://www.sophistiquenoir.com/ ).

Taken from her blog here http://www.sophistiquenoir.com/

How gorgeous is she?

As you can see, it's mainly my fellow bloggers I am inspired by :)

Ah, so many more people to mention...
